Snap-in connectors

In the world of electronic and electrical applications, snap-in connectors have become a common component, offering a convenient and efficient solution for quick installations. These also called easy lock connectors, feature a design that allows them to easily snap or lock into place, minimizing the time and effort required for connection. Snap-in connectors are very versatile and find adaptation in many industries such as industrial automation, medical sector, data and measurement, or other electronic devices. The time-saving attributes and secure reliable interface make it a great solution for many applications. Their user-friendly nature ensures that everyone can effortlessly assemble or disassemble male and female connectors without the need for specialized tools or complicated mating. The snap-in mechanism simplifies the installation process and enhances the overall security for the operator because it disconnects when stumbling on cable by accident.

The product portfolio of binder includes snap connectors in the subminiature category (Snap-in IP40 Series 709/719, Snap-in IP67 Series 620), miniature category (Snap-in IP67 Series 720) and medical grade (ELC Series 570, Snap-in Series 620, Snap-in Series 720).

How does a snap-in connector work?

A snap connector is a type of electrical connector designed for easy and secure mating and unmating. It typically consists of two parts: a male component and a female component. The snap-in mechanism is the specialty of this type of connector as it provides the audible sound when the male and female connectors are mated. This snap-mechanism ensures that the connectors are firmly attached; however, at the same time they can be effortlessly disconnected. The unmating is easy as a person only needs to apply a certain amount of force to separate the male and female connectors. This force overcomes the snap-in mechanism, allowing for easy removal.

Applications for snap-in connectors

The snap-in locking technology is part of many product series of the binder portfolio for which reason it comes with a high level of compatibility. Its versatility allows snap lock electrical connectors to be designed into a wide range of applications across different industries:

  • Snap-in IP40 (709/719): data logger, patient monitoring, sensor and measurement systems,
  • Snap-in IP67 (620): data logger, patient monitoring, robotics, Sensor and measurement systems, e-mobility, commercial lighting
  • Snap-in IP67 (720): data logger, patient monitoring, robotics, Sensor and measurement systems, e-mobility, commercial lighting
  • ELC (570): Patient monitoring

Snap fit connectors are commonly used in various applications, including electronics, automotive, and homecare applications, where quick and reliable connections are required. They provide a convenient way to connect and disconnect components without the need for tools or complicated procedures.

Benefits of snap-in connectors

  • Ease of use: Non-experts can connect and disconnect snap connectors without the need for special tools.
  • Timesaving: The design allows an easy and quick installation which significantly reduces assembly time and labor cost
  • Security and compatibility: Snap-in connectors provide a secure and reliable connection between components under the circumstances they are certified for. The snap-in mechanism ensures that the connectors remain firmly attached; however, they can be easily unmated when force is applied. This feature enhances security when, for example, a person stumbles across the cable. They are designed to meet industry standards and specifications, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of equipment.
  • Reliability: Snap-in connectors are built to withstand environmental conditions due to durable materials that allow long-term performance.
  • Versatility: binder offers snap-in connectors in a variety of sizes and configurations to accommodate different applications and requirements.
  • Space-Saving Design: Snap-in connectors are compact and space-saving, making them suitable for applications where space is limited. Their low-profile design helps optimize the use of available space in electronic devices.
